NS 196 charges through Spring City, Tennessee about to pass a clear signal displayed on vintage searchlights from the original Southern Railway. Those searchlights aren't the only original piece of the Southern Railway in this picture...trailing third out on the train is a now rare GP38AC of the former Southern. This unit would be set off in Emory Gap about 20 miles north of here for use on the local, NS T36. A D9-40CW leads the charge with an ex-Conrail standard cab SD60, #6700, the class unit second out. |
