Loaded sand train on the SWP Railroad passing through New Stanton. The engine lineup includes NS 2537, 7247, 9693 and 2592. There was a bit of snow remaining in the cut which I think contrasted nicely with the black engine. Photographed from the South Center Avenue overpass. |

SWP 406 (6) |
Description: |
The Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad is seen dropping off some cars at the Catchup Logistics warehouse in South Greensburg. This is the first time I've been able to see them doing this move. SWP 406 is a road slug but can be controlled in the cab when connected to another locomotive, namely SWP 4006. |

AVR 4005 and 405 |
Description: |
A pair of new arrivals on the SWP Railroad, borrowed from the sister railroad AVR. Here they are waiting to get onto CSX in Broadford and go east to Connellsville. A bit of color remains on the trees even at the late date of November 14. The GP40-3 and Road Slug are new to this site and further information on them is pending. |

Marooned |
Description: |
An empty sand train of 80 cars and eight locomotives (SWP 406, SWP 4006, AVR 4005, AVR 405, CN 8813, CN 8942, CN 8897, NS 9886) coming to a stop at O&B Junction in Wheeler Bottom, Dunbar Township. The crew had to leave the train here because CSX was going to make them wait too long to get onto their tracks across the river. Up above the train the Sheepskin bike/hike trail runs along the hillside, which used to the the lead track for Western Maryland Railways Bowest Yard. |

Eight is great |
Description: |
An epic eight locomotive lineup of SWP 406, SWP 4006, AVR 4005, AVR 405, CN 8813, CN 8942, CN 8897, and NS 9886 that has just picked up a train of 80 empty sand cars in Lemont Furnace, PA. That was after they ran a loaded train down to Smithfield, PA early in the morning in the dark. SWP 406-4006 and AVR 4005-405 work together as slug sets, giving a rare chance to get both of them together on one train. |
