BNSF 1835, view of rear of unit |
Description: |
BNSF 1835 still has the early style of grilles, compared to the "corrugated" grilles on later units. The numberboards are empty, and the darker (fresher?) paint covers where the number used to be. No, the ground wasn't tilted (smile) but my camera was--sorry! |

BNSF 8705, close-up of cab view, engineer's side |
Description: |
We get a closer look at the cab and short hood of BNSF 8705. The headlights are in the nose or short hood itself, and the awning above the windows shows some damage. It was very warm when I took this photo so I'm sure the train crew was glad to have that air conditioner! |

BNSF 8706, conductor's side view |
Description: |
BNSF 8706, like sister unit 8705, worked in Abilene, KS for quite some time. Here, this unit is paired with 8705 and a pair of SD40-2's. Note the shock absorber on the rightmost axle of each truck, the horns near the rear set of fans, the bell mounted to the frame, and the air conditioner on the cab roof. It was very warm when I took this photo and I'm sure the train crew was grateful for the a/c! |
