LIRR 2907 |
Description: |
Built by Pullman Standard in 1955 for Long Island Railroad commuter service, this car lasted on passenger trains until the 1980's. It was later converted to MOW work spreading Sandite along the rails to prevent trains from slipping. Later retired by the MTA, it was acquired by the Twin Forks Chapter NRHS which is currently restoring it at the Railroad Museum of Long Island. |

This former Long Island Railroad MP54 combine MU now serves as the office of the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce. Constructed by the Pennsylvania Railroad during their control of the LIRR, this MU is one of four to survive today out of 923 constructed for service on the island. |
