Album Info:Here is a five-page article by Mr. David P. Morgan entitled "Holiday Near Hollidaysburg, Helplessness On Horse Shoe, Oblivion At Orbisonia." It was published originally in the March 1957 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 46-50. Photos by Dr. Philip R. Hastings taken during September of 1955. Of special interest are the text and photos of his adventures on what he calls the "Hollidaysburg and Petersburg Branch," a stretch of track and history which no longer exist. As for the westbound ore train mentioned in the article, it would have entered the Hollidaysburg Yard and stopped, changed both engine and train crews, perhaps added another helper engine, started-up again and steamed past the Hollidaysburg Station and WYE Tower, climbed up the New Portage Branch via the Muleshoe Curve, and then merged into the main line at Gallitzin on its merry way to the steel mills of Pittsburgh.
