Album Info:I have reached a point in life where I take what I call "geezer bus tours," which I think needs no explanation: basically a bunch of old folks on a bus going to Branson, or Washington DC, you get the idea. Sometimes I have the chance to get a rail photo from the bus. They're not always the best quality, since I have no control over set up, but sometimes I get something sorta worthwhile.

Westbound in the gloom
Title:  Westbound in the gloom
Description:  A westbound auto rack train holds at a siding near Newkirk NM, behind UP and CSX power. This is where shooting through bus windows really sucks. The light is bad to begin with, and the tinted windows only make it worse. The only thing saving this shot is that the train was sitting still.

Rolling to a meet
Title:  Rolling to a meet
Description:  Elsewhere in this album, we have UP 4340 west in a siding. Heres why he was waiting: this eastbound stack train. The framing on this is perfect. All I needed was a littl sun.

Work extra
Title:  Work extra
Description:  A lot of maintenance must be done on a line like Cajon, due to the constant traffic and resulting stress on the physical plant. A UP work train is on the hill, seen from I 15.

Autos east
Title:  Autos east
Description:  As we approached our rest break at Barstow, we ran along the tracks for a short distance. For once a train showed when I wanted it, and was able to get a passably decent shot of the power. And-check out that lead unit!! I've seen many a patch paint job, going back to Conrail in the early days, but this is my first X out. Also, the third unit is 3751, but not the one you were hoping for :-)

Climbing the grade
Title:  Climbing the grade
Description:  It was fairly busy the day we came down Cajon into the LA basin. This BNSF freight was climbing to Summit as we descended on i 15.
