Description:  This powerful and long 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive was built by Alco-Schenectady in May of 1927 as Central Vermont #603. The loco was photographed while it sat in the Turcot Yard in Montreal. This is the original sepia colored scan of the photo. Specs - serial #67338, U-1a class, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure,26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 325,000 lb, tractive effort of 44,000 lb.Later the boiler pressure was raised to 200 psi and the tractive force grew to 46,300 lb.
