NJT GP40FH-2 #4143 - New Jersey Transit |
Description: |
Caught heading up a commuter run is New Jersey Transit GP40FH-2 #4143. The loco was built in September of 1966 as CRIP GP40 #361 but bounced through several rosters along the way. It was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen using IANR and CRIP #361 parts with a newly fabricated cowling.. After its NJT service was over, the loco finally landed on the USDOT roster as DOTX GP40FH-2 #4143. The last photo taken of it was takne in 2015. Current disposition is unknown. No location, exact day or photographer was given for the photo. Thanks to Mike Brotzman who identified the location (see comment below), the location has been listed as Egg Harbor, NJ, which is the location of several other photos in the batch acquired. This loco started out as CRIP GP40 #354 built by EMD in September of 1966. Here is another "boomer" loco that has been on several rosters during its service years. The loco was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen usingCRIP/UP GP40 #354. Th last roster listing was on San Luis & Rio Grande as SLRG #4144. The last photographed taken of the loco was in 2018. Current disposition is unknown. No location, exact day or photographer was given for the photo. M.G. Lovis took this great roster shot of New Jersey Transit GP40FH-2 #4140 as it sat in the Dover yard. Originally built by EMD in September of 1966 as CRIP GP40 #346, it was rebuilt by M-K using UP/MP 606 with a new cowling fabricated for it. The loco was last seen as A Department of Transportation loco back in 2015. Current disposition is unknown. |
