GN Diner/Observation #A11 - Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy |

Great Northern A11 originally was built as a sleeper car GN #9021.in 1911 by Barney & Smith Company. Its "pedigree" started with sleeper GN 9021 > GN BusCar A1 > GN BusCar A11 > BN B7.. During the lineage, it was rebuilt several times and its original wood sheathing was covered with steel. Finally the car was acquired by the Minnesota Transportation Museum in 1981 with the Museum putting the car into service on the Osceola & St. Croix Railroad, in 1999 as an open diner/observation car. Its official reporting mark is MNTX A11. |

GN Diner #1097 - Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy |
Description: |
This car was originally built in 1947 for Chicago & North Western Railway as a lightweight 56-seat coach/smoker car #3444 and later renumbered CNW 808. It was sold to Great Northern in 1962 as their GN 1097 with the "Big Sky Blue" paint scheme. Later, it was put in Amtrak service between the Twin Cities and Duluth. The car eventually was returned to BN. Luckily, the Minnesota Transportation Museum obtained the car for its tourist train at Osceola, Wisconsin and rebuilt it to serve as an open diner car or lounge car. It correct reporting mark is MNTX 1097. |

This car was originally built by Pullman-Standard as a lightweight 48 seat leg rest coach in the Great Northern "Big Sky Blue" paint scheme. It was later rebuit into a 108 seat commuter coach for the Central RR of New Jersey as their commuter car CNJ 105. Somehow it ended up at the Minnesota Transportation Museum and rebuilt as a Great Northern parlor car in the orange and green paint scheme. Its correct reporting mark is actually MNTX 1215 to reflect the Minnesota Transportation Museum ownership. |
