F9 on the Rio Grande Zephyr
Title:  F9 on the Rio Grande Zephyr
Description:  DRGW F9A 5771 leads the eastbound Rio Grande Zephyr at Granby CO in June 1973. Coming after Amtrak had taken over most of the rest of the pasenger trains in the country it was great to see one operated by a railroad again. Now only if the sun had stuck around.

End of the Line on the High Prairie
Title:  End of the Line on the High Prairie
Description:  This is Pritchett, Colorado, population 137, located in Baca County in Colorado's southeast corner. The Santa Fe pushed what became its Manter Sub out here, making it one of the more obscure outposts of Chico's far flung empire. The road operated a tri-wekly mixed train to here from Satanta up to Amtrak. In 1996 the line was turned over to the Cimarron Valley (CVR), but it's said they never ran a train past Springfield, about 14 miles east. the rails are now gone; the elevators look unused.
