Description:  Oh, this one isn't backlit but it is going away. Its like I am breaking#all of the "rules" for train photos. You know what - there shouldn't be any rules for photos - constraining yourself to one type of photo risks missing scenes like this one - a pretty good look at a pasenger train accelerating away from a station - in just a few minutes this one will be rolling through North Carolina at 79 MPH.

Actually, this one is about as good as you can in lcte afternoon in Rocky Mount - really, if you are going to photograph northbound trains, you need to get the light blocked somehow and while you can get a good photo, yow aren't going to get a great photo (that is what southbound trains are for)

Description:  This young lady forgot to do that, and luckily for her, the train on the other track (whose view was totally blocked by a departing Amtrak) was a passenger train slowing down to reach the station. Someone get OLS into the Rocky Mount schools this is the second time I've seen a young person on a bicycle almost get hit by a train. I almost didn't post this because this is the closest I have come to seeing someone hit by a train and it was a truly frightening moment, but did so as a public service announcement
