Description:  EL RENO OK January 1976 -- Rock Island F9Am 4164 and F9Am 4152 sit at the engine facility. The 4162 will leave the roster in only a few months. EMD built the unit as Union Pacific F3 1415A (b/n 4620) in January 1948. It was renumbered to UP 1415 in April 1948, renumbered to 1521 in March 1951, rebuilt by EMD as F9A 534 in January 1959 and sold to Rock Island as F9Am 4164 in February 1972. It was traded in to EMD in July 1976. Description:  EL RENO OK January 1976 -- Rock Island SD40-2 4796 leads a mixed freight past the freight house and station on its way south. EMD built the 4796 (s/n 73676-7) in December 1973. After the Rock shut down it went to Illinois Central Gulf in June 1980 (ICG paint) as ICG 6046, then to EMD as EMDX 6046 and then to Wisconsin and Southern RR (in WSOR paint) as WSOR 4003. Description:  EL RENO OK Jan 5 1976 -- Rock Island GP40 4712 leads a mixed freight leaving the yard eastbound. EMD built the 4712 (b/n 36398) ub April 1970. After the Rock shut down Union Pacific acquired it on April 1 1980. It became UP 643 but retained its Rock paint. On April 29 1980 it was painted in UP colors. It was leased by NdeM from October 1989 to June 1990, was stored unserviceable at Fort Worth, retired on Aug 21 1991, sold to National Railway Equipment (Dixmoor IL) on Oct 9 1991 and in September 1994 acquired by Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern as DME 4002 in Blue with yellow stripe and later in 20th Anniversary Commemorative paint. Description:  EL RENO OK Jan 21 1978 -- Rock Island GP38-2 4336, named City of Rock Island, GP9 4485 and GP38-2 4316, named Garland L. Rucker, are on the move. In the background is the El Reno shop building. EMD built the 4336 in November 1976. In became Missouri Pacific 2274 after the Rock Island shutdown and then became UP 2274 on Nov 13 1986. Description:  EL RENO OK Feb 2 1980 -- Three railfans, one a Rock Island employee, traveled to El Reno and got permission from the division super to enter the shops and take night shots. We trekked through the Engine/car shop and set up for our first shot which was unit 314. Sadly, we forgot to check in with the shop foreman. He saw the flash units and politely asked us to leave. We came down on the side of reality and beat a hasty retreat. Live and learn. GE built CRIP U33B 195 in May 1969. It was eventually returned to lessor Rockland Gamma. In 1980 it became Missouri Pacific 2257 and in 1987 became UP 2257. On June 11 2003 it was renumbered UP 757. It was retired by June 2008 and renumbered to a GMTX unit. Description:  EL RENO OK June 17 1984 -- Oklahoma Kansas Texas 3109's crew has cutoff from their train and gone to lunch. I believe this unit is CR 3109 which became MKT 235, then UP 670 and finally UP 9953. Please correct me if I am wrong.
