Power assist
Title:  Power assist
Description:  When CP took over operation of the D&H, they almost immediately brought in leased power to augment their own fleet. There were two groups of power initially, from GATX and PLM(Precision Leasing Management). The PLM units were in this attractive blue scheme, and became known as "plums" to the local fans. Two of them lead a pair of CP units on 555, formerly PYRP, at BX, passing the Agway feed mill.

On the other side of town
Title:  On the other side of town
Description:  A train is rolling...with apologies to the Eagles. The big game in town that day was a BUAB with NYSW and SOO power. It was over at QD downtown, waiting on a new crew. While we all milled around contemplating our chase, the radio announced that a BUME was about to go north out of East Binghamton. Getting out of the yard is a slow process, and I was able to get to BD ahead of the train, shooting its two recently arrived PLM units.

Rounding the curve
Title:  Rounding the curve
Description:  One of our favorite spots for a photo was at Chemung. It was easy off/easy on if you were driving, as the spot was right off the exit 59 off ramp. Get your shot and go. This NU 1 behind PLM power provided the action, rolling 105 cars west around the big curve, past the old Erie station on the inside of it.

This one lasted a while longer
Title:  This one lasted a while longer
Description:  Though the blades at Tioga Center were on their way out, this one at Waverly had a better future, lasqing a couple more years til Conrail single tracked west of Waverly. I made the most of it, shooting trains here often.

Erie station
Title:  Erie station
Description:  The Erie station at Canisteo lasted into the early 90s. It was an Agway dealership in its last incarnation. When that closed, it was demolished by Conrail. Here we see D&H train 255 passing.
