Title:
CB&Q PMC 9730
Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad PMC (Passenger Motor Car) 9730 at an unknown location (best guess, Lincoln, NE) on an unknown date, photo by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. I based the location on locations typical of Dick Rumbolz, from whom I purchased the negative of this photo. The date is based on the scrapping date as listed in the book, Burlington In Transition, by Bernard G. Corbin and Joseph C. Hardy. Number 9730 was built by Pullman in August 1928 as CB&Q 730. It was powered by an EMC Winton 275 horsepower gasoline engine (serial 297). In June 1930 it was renumbered to 9730. It was scrapped (according to the book) in February 1955. At least two former gas-electrics were turned into crew locker rooms at yards around the system by removing the trucks and dropping them down where convenient.
