Here is page three of a five-page article by Al Rung entitled "Christmas Eve on the Broadway." It was published originally in the December 1948 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 28. Top Photo: Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5823 and another "Centipede" whose number is not recorded. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as 3,000 horsepower BP-60's for passenger service, but later regeared and downgraded to 2,500 horsepower BP-50's for freight service. #5823 was built during 1947 and retired in 1964.
