It was published originally in the Autumn 1996 issue of "Keystone" magazine, page 42. Middle Left-Hand Photo Caption: "H-9s #3536 is being lowered into the lye vat at the Altoona Machine Shop on October 17, 1936." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3536 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata in October of 1913 and retired in September of 1955. Bottom Left-Hand Photo Caption: "H-9s #3523 in the lye vat on December 22, 1936." PRR engine #3523 is an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata during September of 1913 and retired in January of 1950. |
