Photo Caption: "LIRR 39. 4-6-0 No. 39 takes on water at Hicksville, N.Y., during a fan trip on June 5, 1955. In 1980, the Class G-5s locomotive was undergoing extensive restoration in Riverhead for future rail excursions." Long Island Rail Road engine #39 is a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Juniata during May of 1929. |
