Description:  Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Homer T. Newton, Jr., that was taken in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1953. Photo Caption: "Pennsylvania 2-10-4 No. 6448, Blairsville, Pa. 8-10-1953." PRR engine #6448 is a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during November of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam In Action from Virginia to Ohio" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (880-20).

Description:  Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 6448." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Southbound freight at Worthington, Ohio, June 10, 1956, has big Pennsy J class power. Altoona Shops turned out 125 of these Texas type 2-10-4's from 1942 to 1944 based on a Chesapeake & Ohio T-1 design. The J's worked the line with leased Santa Fe 2-10-4's the summer of '56. Photo by Joseph Stark." #6448 is a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during November of 1943.
