L&N Train No. 34 |
Description: |
Louisville & Nashville E6A units 757 and 772 were on train No. 34, the northbound PIEDMONT, at the railroad's station in New Orleans. The locomotives had been built in 1942 as the 457A and the 452B, and were among the last E6 units built before the War Production Board ended the construction of almost all passenger power. They were retired in March 1968 and October 1970. |

LN E6A #757 - Louisville & Nashville |
Description: |
Still wearing the drab dark blue paint scheme that Louisville & Nashville applied to its passenger service locos starting in 1957, it is at least clean looking. Built by EMD in July of 1942, it was originally numbered 457A. C.E. Conniff photo |
