Title:
PRR 4170, E-3SD, 1938
Description:
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Oyster Bay, New York, on 17 April 1938. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4170, an E-3SD (4-2-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata as E-3D number "3006" during 1907, rebuilt as an E-3SD and renumbered "4170" in April of 1913, and retired in June of 1946 after 39 years of faithful service. Note the LIRR Hostler on the tender's deck replenishing the reservoir. "Fill 'er up, Mack!" Gary Mittner Collection.
