A proud crew poses for a photo with their 2-8-0 Consolidation type locomotive. Originally built by Baldwin as West Virgina Central Pittsbrugh 2-8-0 #38, it fell into the WM roster when the WVC was purchased in 1905. The was sold for scrap to Luria Bros. in May of 1950 after nearly 50 years of service. Specs - 50" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 173,900 lb, tractive effort of 43,773 lb. Eventually scrapped in May of 1950. No date, location or photographer listed for the photo. |
