GN 2324
Title:  GN 2324
Description:  GN 2324 at Sioux City, Iowa on an unknown day in June 1958, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 2324 was built by Saint Louis Car Company in 1928 (c/n 1458), powered by an EMC supplied Winton Model 120 gasoline engine rated at 275 horsepower (c/n 246) and utilized GE electrical gear. During September 1946 it was repowered with a Stirling diesel, also rated at 275 horsepower. Number 2324 contained an RPO section, a baggage section, seats for 14 passengers, and weighed 55 tons. It was retired and scrapped during July 1959. The trailing RPO is probably paying the bills on this trip.

Description:  Originally built by the St Louis Car Co in April of 1936 as SAL #2028, it was re-painted with the Seaboard Coast Line logo after the 1967 merger. Most of its SCL short life was spent servicing Florida passengers up to Amtrak taking over the SCL passenger service in 1971. No informaiton (date, location, photographer) was given for this reprinted photo but thanks to Mike Woodruff (see comment below), it is an RPF coach & SCL doodlebug duo in Lakeland, Florida.

CB&Q 2726
Title:  CB&Q 2726
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2726 at Eola, Illinois on October 11, 1964, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 2726 was built in July 1928 by Pullman as CB&Q class PMC ( Passenger Motor Car ) number 847, powered by EMC with a Winton 275 horsepower gasoline engine ( c/n 283 ). It was renumbered in April 1930 to 9847. During December 1942 it was de-motored and converted to a passenger-mail-baggage car, renumbered to 2726 and assigned to branch line service. It is seen here at the Q's Reclamation Plant, soon to be scrapped.

This photo was originally marked as 2725, and information about 2725 was obtained from Bernard Corbin's book, "Burlington In Transition", however, Rupert Gamlen called my attention to the error as follows:

There is a photo of an ex-motor car labelled 2725, but I think this is 2726. Number 2725 was ex-574, 839 and 9839 built by Saint Louis, while 2726 was ex-847 and 9847 built by Pullman. One of the distinguishing features are the roof vents. The Saint Louis cars have them on the centreline while the Pullmans have box-like ones each side of the centreline. Also, according to Bill Glick's Passenger Car Roster book, 2725 was scrapped in 1958, six years before the photo.

CB&Q PMC 9840
Title:  CB&Q PMC 9840
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad PMC ( Passenger Motor Car ) 9840 at Lincoln, Nebraska on May 5, 1952, photographer unknown, duplicate slide by Al Chione, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 9840 was built by EMC-Saint Louis in October 1927 ( Shop No. 239 ) as gas-electric number 575, renumbered to 840 in August 1928, renumbered again to 9840 in August 1930, retired in July 1953. According to the publication, Burlington Passenger Car Roster, by William Glick, Number 9840 was converted to passenger-baggage car 3666, and in October 25, 1963, became a building in Denver, Colorado.
