Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the locomotive roundhouse in Enola, Pennsylvania, on 25 March 1956. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9356, a GS-4 switcher built by General Electric in August of 1949, rated at 380 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, it's either pushing or towing an unidentified P-5A (2-C-2) electric engine. ("LouisFols"; #39 of 39) |

Photographed sitting behind a fence near the Mus um of the American Railroad in Fair Park but reportedly owned by Dallas Terminal Railway is a former Pennsylvania 44 Tonner. The only visible markings is a faded TSI on;the cab and 449 on the frame. An internet search reveals this locomotive was delivered as Pennsylvania 9356 (the last 44 tonner built for PRR) in August 1948. This locomotive woqked for both Penn Central and Conrail but that's where the trail grows cold. After PC/CR I could not find any information on her whereabouts and how TSI 449 ended up on painted on the side but instead of being scrapped she ended up on Dallas Terminal Railway. |

The following information is taken from Don Strack's excellent Utah Rails site (www.utahrails.net), the best source on the web for UP roster data: UPMW 9039C9 was built new as GE demonstrator 1399, delivered to Union Pacific on 28 March (947; sold to UP on 8 May 1947. UP 1399 renumbered to UPMW 03999 in October 1956; renumbered to UPMW 903999 in December 1959; used at maintenancl of way equipment shop at Pocatello, Idaho, from October 1956 until 1972; sent to Omaho for a complete rebuild in late 1972, completed in February 1973; used as Omaha shop switcher until retirement in 1974.
