Description: |
A sister to the other K-3 Mikado in this album, this Mikado was also built by Alco-Schenectady in 1923 and was also a class K-3. It had the 64" drivers and developed the 200 psi like its sister. A good looking locomotive some 30 years after being built but soon to be "released from service" as Wabash put it. This is a Ray W. Buhrmaster photo. |

"Big Mike" UP 2295 |
Description: |
I bought this pictures at a thrift store, sadly a kitten had gotten ahold of it. The picture shows "Big Mike" UP 2295, the Mikado that was donated to the City of Boise as it is still on active railroad tracks on its way to Julia Davis Park near downtown Boise. As best I can tell this was taken on the old main into Boise near Boise Junction. This in near where the tracks cross Curtis Rd. On the back is written "Harry Morrison MK" The photographer has stamped there name, "W. S. Shaw" and the date Nov. 2, 1959. |
