All were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #9739 and #2008-B are BF-16's built in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #9701 is a BF-15A built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are stopped just short of the 4th Street Bridge, awaiting orders to pull a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. They are about to pass under the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata with a 100-car coal train destined for Enola and points East. Visible in the immediate background are at least eight cabin cars and PRR engine #7923, an ES-12 built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. Several ALCo road switchers are on the move and will soon pass the Juniata E&M Shop on the far right.

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2025, #9738, and #9683. #2025 and #9738 were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #2025 was built in April of 1952 and retired in January of 1967, while #9738 was built in May of 1951 and retired July of 1966. #9683 is an EH-15 built by GM-EMD in February of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A.

Description:  Boulton. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1967. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2361, #2606, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2361 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2606 is a GF-25 built by General Electric as number "2506" in August of 1962, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and renumbered "2606" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, they're just entering the Curve with a "high-&-wide load" consist that's on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Visible at the far right is a portion of four-track Signal Bridge #2416.
