NYC 4085 and NYC 3001
Title:  NYC 4085 and NYC 3001
Description:  NS went dead, which gave us time to continue west. NS 276 was pulling up to the pad for a crew swap, so we decided to set up for a shot of it by the station in Elkhart. Before it showed, we grabbed some photos of the National New York Central Museum equipment. It was closed today, but one day we are actually going to visit the museum.

NH 4-8-2 #3560 - New York, New Haven & Hartford (New Haven)
Title:  NH 4-8-2 #3560 - New York, New Haven & Hartford (New Haven)
Description:  Beautiful and massive - best descriptive phrases for this 1928 Alco-Schenectady built Mountain-type locomotive. As one of the late steam engines to be built, it could generate a whopping 265 psi boiler pressure for its pistons. Although the location was not listed, I believe this appears to be the Providence roundhouse - can anyone confirm or deny? Date is approximate and no photographer was listed unfortunately.

MP Extra 5315 East
Title:  MP Extra 5315 East
Description:  Missouri Pacific MT-73 class 4-8-2 5315 and a water car were on an Extra East running over the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad’s eastbound main track behind AUDUBON PARK in New Orleans, about five miles from its destination at the Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans’ RACE STREET YARD. The two tracks on the right belonged to the Illinois Central, while the Mississippi River was just behind the trees on the left. The locomotive had been built at Alco’s Schenectady Works in January 1923 for heavy-duty passenger service, but by this time it had been demoted to run-of-the-mill freight trains. It was retired in January 1955.
