ICG 7963 |
Description: |
You could pretty much count on ICG to provide a fair amount of variety back in the day. This train rolled by the weather-beaten remains of the old passenger depot in Freeburg, IL with five units -- one GP8, one GP10, one GP11 (in the short-lived all orange paint scheme), a GP30, and a GP35 still wearing GM&O number and colors. ICG was nothing if not colorful back then. |

ICG GP10 8461 |
Description: |
This unit was one of only a few Paducah-rebuilt geeps with a genuine EMD slanting low nose. The 8461 had been built as IC GP9 9305, and its frame number was confirmed as 5553-6. It was rebuilt as orange-and-white GP10 8461 in March 1977, with a standard ICG flat-top nose; but this was damaged in an accident at Bluford, Illinois in early 1979. The 8461 was repaired with an EMD low nose, probably from IC GP18 9423, and received the current orange-and-gray paint job and a new rebuild date of December 1979. |

This, Is Roodhouse |
Description: |
A look at the small ICG operation at Roodhouse IL in 1987; the unit is pointing east, with the tracks heading towards Springfield. Behind it is the Kansas City line. A sand tower still survives in the distance, the roundhouse used to stand to its right, beyond the prefab depot. |
