Description:
VULX (Vulcan Materials) #8409 sits at the end of the loading tracks at the company's Pacolet, SC, granite quarry. The unit is a GP10, bulit for the Illinois Central RR in May of 1954 by EMD. The unit was then abondened in Chicage and was finally purchased and rebuilt for the Vulcan Corporation.The unit serves the largest granite quarry in the Southeastern US in Pacolet, SC. A huge shoutout to Ron Bishop for showing me this cool pieace of American railroad history. Photo taken with permission.
