WM 2-10-0 #1111 - Western Maryland |
Description: |
Normally I don't post photos of older photos but this one is another exception due to the quality and beautiful action that was captured. A note on the back of the photo states "Shot near Cumberland, MD. Taken from an old photo 2 1/2 x 4" taken by a box camera in 1938 (I have the neg of this)" by an unknown photographer. SpecfIcs - I-2 class, 61" drivers, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 419,280 lb, impressive tractive effort of 96,315 lb. The date used in 1938 is approximate. |

WM 2-10-0 #1122 - Western Maryland |
Description: |
Big and beefy 1927 Baldwin decapod sits with its steam up and ready to roll. The decapod was a utilitarian performer for all but the smaller branch lines. Although rough on the rails at times, it still had the tractive effort to move through the hilly terrain. Specifics - I-2 class, 61" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, 96,315 lb tractive effort, engine weight of 419,280 lb |
