Illinois Central waffle-side box car IC 580248 was an AAR type XL with a gross rail load of 220,000 pounds, a light weight of 68,800 pounds and a load limit of 151,200 pounds. The 50-foot car had been repainted at Centralia in February 1999, so its paint job still looked pretty good. It was on a Canadian National-Illinois Central transfer run in New Orleans running from MAYS YARD to STUYVESANT DOCKS YARD and the New Orleans Public Belt. |
