AMTK 3800 |
Description: |
3800 was built by Budd in 1940 as Seaboard Air Line 6500, one of three blunt-end observation cars (6500-6502) with 30 coach seats, a mid-car stewardess room and buffet, and a 24-seat lounge for service on the expanded SILVER METEOR. The cars initially ran in the middle of the train between New York and Wildwood, and then on the rear of the Miami section after the Tampa and Miami sections were split at Wildwood; but were soon transferred to the Tampa section with a proper round-end observation going to Miami. It was renumbered 5800 after the formation of the Seaboard Coats Line on 1 July 1967. The line number 5814 shows that the car will be used on train No. 58, the northbound PANAMA LIMITED. |
