Famous as the home of the James Gang, Kearney MO at one time was on the CB&Q Kansas City to Chicago mainline; that changed in 1952 when the "Q" opened a cutoff to the east that saved 22 miles over the original route. In 1962 the line north of Kearney was abandoned to Cameron and the small Missouri town has been at the end of a branch ever since. Here we see the Kearney local, out of North KC, tied up for lunch. Power is GP15-1 1387 and GP9 1863.
