Don C.	General	I would guess it is Prescott, WI, where the St. Croix flows into the Mississippi. That would be the Mississippi in the background and the train would be coming off of the moveable bridge across the St. Croix. The states should be MN and WI, not IL and WI. Hope this helps. L Beckman	General	Chuck - I am not sure of the location, but the date is 1958, not 1956. This was a 4 car special run by the Railroad Club of Chicago up to St. Paul, Minnesota. Passengers took the overnight NP train up to Duluth and the next day, had a fantrip over the DM&IR behind Yellowstone #222. It was my first fan trip. Scott Wendt	General	Is that a milepost that guy is leaning on on the left side of the photo? My computer screen is kind of blurry. If this is coming off the St. Croix bridge approaching St. Croix Tower then this would be between mile 407 and 410. It does make sense that it would have been coming off the bridge since that would probably mean no train on the other track and the fans are probably safe. It would also explain why 5618 would be on what appears to be the EB main as she would be taking the diamond to run the lower track along the river up to St. Paul.	4/18/2013 10:57:58 PM

Robert Anderson	General	MP 408 and signal bridge are Burns MN. If this train is long enough, the rear end is on the Swing bridge over the St.Croix River (state line MN-WI). Rear end then would be in Prescott WI. Scott is corrcet,St Croix Tower is about 3 mi ahead. See Marty Bernard photo of Station sign on phone shanty of Burns just out view to the left. CB&Q 4-8-4 Class O-5-A 5618
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-4 Class O-5-A 5618 on a fantrip, photographer unknown, hand written on the slide mount is: 'Ill-Wis Line St. Croix River July 4, 1958'. The Saint Croix River is located near Saint Paul, Minnesota, so if this is the state line between Illinois and Wisconsin, then this mght be the Wisconsin River in the background, or this may be northbound shot with the Mississippi River in the background. I speculated on the location of Cassville, being a town close to the state line. Anyone with more correct info please leave a comment. Also, although Baldwin did not construct this locomotive, it was assembled from components at the CB&Q shops in West Burlington, Iowa, and Baldwin did manufacture the boiler.
