| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad F7 163A at Plano, Illinois on March 20, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This unit was wrecked at Tecumseh, NE 7/7/68. Number 163A was delivered to the CB&Q during May 1950 (c/n 9692) as part of EMD Order 3021 for four A-units. These four units were mated to a F3 A-B set producing drawbar-connected F7A-F3B-F3A locomotive 163-166. The F7's were assigned the suffix "A", and the F3A was assigned the suffix "C", although the suffix was not displayed in the numberboard until the mid-1960's when the drawbars were replaced with couplers. |
