| From northeast.railfan.net: "Electro-Motive Corp. model AA passenger locomotive. It was a very historic diesel locomotive, the first passenger road locomotive not articulated to its train. Placed in Royal Blue service (Jersey City - Washington DC.) on 8/22/35, it was transferred to Abraham Lincoln service (Chicago - St. Louis) on B&O subsidiary Alton in 4/36. Following the B&O-Alton breakup, Alton bought it in 5/43. Following WWII, it became GM&O #1200 and served in local freight service and on the Joliet commuter train. Retired in 1956, {it was} donated by the scrapper to St. Louis {the Nat'l Museum of Transport} in late 1958. - James Mischke" |
