This is the Burlington's first E8, built December 1949 (c/n 9674), numbered just one suffix letter above the last E7, 9937A, built nine months earlier. It was delivered with silver (Aluminum) painted side panels, but was fitted with stainless steel panels during shopping. It became BN 9937 on March 2, 1970, and was retired May 28, 1975, sold for scrap to Precision Engineering Co. of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, later known as Precision National Corp.. |
