Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E7 9931B eastbound at Naperville, Illinois on June 14, 1963, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in March 1949 (c/n 6501), became BN 9912, and was scrapped April 26, 1972. It is equipped with two steam generators, the evidence being the rectangular exhaust stack to one side at the rear of the unit. It is seen here leading Train #2, the eastbound Galesburg Local, arriving at Union Station at 10:45 AM, according to the CB&Q Chicago and Aurora Divisions Employees Timetable #6, effective April 28, 1963. This train made most of the local stops between Galesburg and Aurora, stopping only at Downers Grove and La Vergne before the last stop in Chicago. It appears in Employees Timetable #7, effective October 27, 1963, but not in #8, effective April 26, 1964, suggesting that this train was cancelled. |
