| CRI&P E7 642 on Train #11, The Peoria Rocket at Joliet, Illinois, July 11, 1965, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Number 642 was built in February 1948 (c/n 3738) on EMD Order E712A. It is seen heading Train #11, the morning Peoria Rocket, and according to the June 1965 issue of The Official Guide, this train left LaSalle Street Station at 8:00 AM, arriving at Joliet at 8:50 AM CST (9:50 locally, Daylight Savings Time), and completed its journey in Peoria at 11:10 AM CST. The Rock Island had four Peoria Rockets (two each direction, Trains 11, 12, 13, 14), with 11 and 14 consisting of chair cars with a buffet (snack service only) and 12 and 13 having a parlor and dining car in addition to the chair cars. |
