Dalies Divide
This place reminds me of Bryn Mawr, PA. Geographically that would seem counter-intuitive. And yet there is something that reminds me of that place in the days when freight operation still prevailed along the Main Line. Westbound freights (particularly the old LCL-7 at night) would come struggling over the crest of the grade at Bryn Mawr and by the time most of the consist had passed, the train was making maximum speed. At Dalies, it is similar - this westbound intermodal has been laboring up the long grade from Belen and by the time half of its consist has passed the train will be sailing past as it heads downgrade now, into the valley of the Rio Puerco.
