Here is page nine of a 22-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Power For Today's Trains." It was issued originally during July of 1949. Partial Caption: "For through freight service. Wheels arranged in six-wheel trucks." Prominent here is PRR engine #9456, an FF-20 built by Fairbanks-Morse in November of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in January of 1963 after just 16 years of revenue service. |
