| Agnes. Here is the second of two successive original photos that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 24 June 1972. Shown here near the 4th Street Footbridge are Penn Central engines #7948 and #2438. They're about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge on their way up the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a "high-and-wide extra" bound for Pittsburgh and points West. It's just about the only thing moving out of Altoona in the wake of Hurricane Agnes. |
