Actually, the idea has been around for some time. Not many installations however. A "Flange Bearing" diamond drastically reduces the destructive forces normally delivered by the wheels passing over the X'ing..

Bernie Feltman General Karl, doesn't this design have to be used at a slow speed application on at least one of the intersecting lines? The flange striking the cross rail looks like it is indenting the top of the rail pretty sharply. Otherwise, I don't see the damage that would take place on the rail corners at a normal diamond 8/30/2010 8:51:31 AM
