Number 408 was built in March 1949 as C&NW F7 4071C (c/n 6607) on EMD Order E1013, regeared from freight (62:15, 65 mph max.) to passenger (57:20, 95 mph max.), a Cummins diesel generator set for 440VAC auxiliary power was installed and the unit was assigned to suburban service during 1960-61. It renumbered during 1971 to 408, sold to the RTA December 31, 1977, leased back to the C&NW the next day for operation, retired May 4, 1983, sold for scrap in January 1985. |
