ATSF 347C & 347B
Tucked away deep in Santa Fes Mormon Yard in Stockton, CA, on February 27th, 1988, are Santa Fe F7A 347C (the former 306C, originally 39C) and F3B 347B (ex-307B, nee-35A). These two former passenger diesels were squirreled away for preservation by the Santa Fe, who later passed their collection along to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. The engines were on their way to the Santa Fe's San Bernardino shops for cosmetic restoration, as the Santa Fe wanted to use these in a promotional film following the application of the road's classic red and silver Warbonnet colors. This project would eventually lead to the return of those colors on the railroads Superfleet engines within a few years.
