OKLAHOMA CITY OK Oct 16 1983 -- ATSF GP7u 1313 is handling switching duties at Flynn Yard south Oklahoma City. On March 26 1930, not far east of this location, the Wild Mary Sudik oil well blew out and was not brought under control for eleven days. It showered oil on land for a radius of five to six miles and winds carried oil as far south as Norman which is 12 miles south. The 1313 was built by EMD as ATSF GP7 2702 in January 1952 and delivered in zebra stripe paint. It was repainted in yellow warbonnet after mid July 1972. In On June 6 1980 the Cleburne shops rebuilt it as a GP7u ATSF 1313 for use in Fort Worth with slug 118. On Jan 23 2000 it was patched BNSF 3823. (Roster information from atsfrr.net) |
