COLORES WY Oct 19 1977 -- Union Pacific SD40-2 3202 and U-30C 2880 haul a live animal train across the plains east of Laramie. If memory serves me correct the cars were loaded with pigs. EMD built the 3202 (b/n 5819-30) in August 1972. This is one of ten units with "cab signals and Automatic Cab Signal equipment at each end for either-end-leading operation along Union Pacifics lines in Nebraska, Wyoming, and along the Columbia River." It became an SD40-2R on July 28 1993 as part of the Life Extension Program. (Roster information from http://utahrails.net/all-time/all-time-45.php#, http://utahrails.net/articles/sd40-2r.php) |
