Amtrak "Pacific Surfliner" #785 (San Diego to Goleta, CA) passes through the lagoons at the northern end of San Diego as it approaches the Pacific Ocean and its next stop at Solana Beach. This train often features older Amfleet and Horizon Fleet cars, and that necessitates the use of a Non Powered Cab Unit (also commonly called a "Cabbage" due the fact that they have a cab and a baggage compartment), in this car Amtrak 90230, which was rebuilt from Amtrak F40PH 230 and is painted for "Cascades" service in the Pacific Northwest. Oddly, even though there is an F59PHI shoving on the rear, todays train also has a GE Dash 8-32BWH on the point: Amtrak 503. |
