Switching Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal on April 15th, 1982, is Amtrak GP7 761. The old GP is bringing in a cut of Amfleet cars for a "San Diegan." Amtrak 761 began life as Frisco GP7 621. It was later sold to Precision National Corporation (as their #621), who in turn sold it to Amtrak. Note the out-of-service tracks in the foreground, with the switch frog and points removed. Thirty years later, in 2012, things at LAUPT had gotten so busy that new trackage was installed! |
