| Like its sister B&O 5562, this "Mountain"-type locomotive built by Baldwin in January 1911 as class P-1 4-6-2 number 2135 with 26X32 cylinders and 74" drivers. It was rebuilt in 1918 to class P-1aa with 26X32 cylinders, 74" drivers, and renumbered 5050. In 1943 it was rebuilt again to a 4-8-2, class T-3b, renumbered 5565, fitted with 27X32 cylinders and 70" drivers, developed 230 psi, with an engine weight of 375,000 lb and an overall engine+tender wheelbase of 88.10'. It was renumbered 707 in 1956 and dropped from the roster in 1960. |
