Amtrak Surfliner F40PH Front Side Roster Shot
Seeing this unit was one of the biggest foaming high points of my vacation. This F40 is absolutely beautiful in the Surfliner colors. All I know of that there's only 2 F40 units with these colors: Amtrak 399 and Amtrak 415. The other F40PH has since lost its Amtrak logo making this the last F40PH in these colors. I sure hope that this one stays around in these colors for a long time to come.

Thomas Rousseau General Joey, It may be possible that Music City Star purchased this for it's F40PH fleet used in commuter service between Nashville and Lebanon, TN. But to be sure, I'll continue with my research on this locomotive. 1/4/2010 6:57:31 PM
Nicholas David General There were actually 4 F40PH's in this paint scheme. This one, 399, 383, and 381. 381 is the last F40PH to be in the surfliner paint - although from what I heard it's going to get repainted soon. 8/7/2020 3:13:10 AM
Nicholas David General Thomas, 415 wasn't purchased by Music City Star, it was purchased by the Panama Canal Railway and was repainted, and renumbered to 1861 8/7/2020 3:14:45 AM
